There is an airport information desk and a Ghana Tourist Information counter in the main arrivals area, as well as
customer service in the departure areas of both terminals.
From Accra, head north on Patrice Lumumbra Road towards Odoi Kwao Street, then turn right onto Dr Amilcar
Cabral Road. Continue onto Airport Road and take the second exit at the roundabout.
The New Terminal 3
The new terminal at Kotoka International Airport was designed in accordance with the latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements based on the optimal service level.
“The new terminal can handle up to five million passengers a year with an expansion potential up to 6.5 million passengers.”
The access to the terminal is provided through a new main road, which was constructed as part of the project. The main entrance is located in front of the central check-in hall, making it easy to enter the terminal. The check-in hall incorporates expressive forms reflecting Ghanaian culture and values. A surface car park is located within a walking distance from the terminal.
Accra airport Terminal 3 details
Designed for international traffic, the new terminal has five levels spread across an area of 45,000m². The terminal features six contact stands for Code E aircraft and two additional remote stands.
The new terminal has the capacity to process 1,250 passengers at peak times, large retail and commercial area, three business lounges, six fixed links and seven air bridges expandable to eight. Parking spaces are available with the capacity to handle more than 700 cars.
The departures level of the terminal features 56 check-in desks, 30 passport control counters, including four e-gate positions and eight security lanes. The arrival level has 24 immigration counters, four e-gate positions expandable to eight and four baggage claim areas.
A fully automated baggage handling system designed in accordance with the latest European Civil Aviation Conference Hold Baggage Screening (ECAC HBS) requirements is also provided to handle 3,500 bags an hour.
Transfer between terminals:
The terminals are connected by a covered walkway.
Public transport road:
Taxi: Taxis are the best way to get to Accra city centre and can be found at Aerostar car park. The airport taxi
service, Labour Enterprise Trust Co., runs metered taxis and charges GH¢ 10.00 for the Õrst kilometre and GH¢
0.10 for every additional 100 meters of your trip. Public pool taxis without metered rates are also available to and
from the airport, giving customers the opportunity to bargain for reduced fairs. Additionally, a number of Accra
hotels will provide shuttle services to and from the airport; these should be arranged in advance.
Currency exchange oÞces and ATMs are available in the airport.
There is a choice of restaurants both pre- and post-security and an airside bar.
There are a few shops at Accra Kotoka International Airport covering basic needs, as well as duty-free outlets.
There is a lost and found oÞce in Arrivals.
The Airport Clinic is situated 500m from the terminals.
Conference and business:
There are three lounges in the airport: Sanbra, Adinkra and Akwaaba.
Currently, Wi-Fi access is only available in the departures area. Card phones are located at several points
throughout the terminal; cards are available from the post oÞce and some shops. A post oÞce is also situated in
